Money Skills That Stick Around

Financial awareness isn't some dry textbook subject. It's about building confidence with everyday decisions—from choosing groceries to planning next year's holiday. Our program runs over eight weeks and covers the things that actually matter in real life.

What You'll Actually Learn

We focus on practical skills. Like how to read a budget without your eyes glazing over. Or why your superannuation matters more than you think. Each session builds on the last, but there's no exam waiting at the end.

The next intake starts September 2025. Classes run Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00 PM, mostly online with two in-person meetups in Rockhampton. Perfect if you're juggling work or family commitments.

Cost is 0 for the full program. That includes all materials, access to our online portal, and follow-up support for three months after you finish.

Program Structure

1 Banking Basics

Understanding fees, interest rates, and how to choose accounts that work for you. We'll also cover online banking security and avoiding common scams.

2 Budget Building

Creating a budget that you'll actually use. We'll look at tracking expenses, identifying spending patterns, and finding ways to save without feeling deprived.

3 Debt Management

How different types of debt work and strategies for paying them down. We'll talk about credit cards, personal loans, and mortgages in plain language.

4 Superannuation

What super is, how it grows, and why it matters now—not just when you're 65. We'll also cover contribution strategies and fund comparisons.

5 Insurance Coverage

Understanding what insurance you need versus what you're sold. We'll review health, home, car, and life insurance in practical terms.

6 Future Planning

Setting realistic financial goals and building a plan to reach them. We'll discuss emergency funds, investing basics, and retirement planning.
